Building a Kerfing Plane for Easy Resawing by Hand
Finally got around to building a Kerfing Plane. The tool is used to run a kerf around stock to serve as a guide while resawing lumber. The plane is made from Quartersawn Oak and uses the hardware kit from Bad Axe Tool Works. 12 page plans including detailed instruction, templates, and measurements are available on my website.

Building a Wood Stove Stand: Tiny Timber Frame Pt. 12
Просмотров 9 тыс.2 года назад
This small stand was more work than I had planned! 26 mortise and tenon total took a good deal of time, but i’m happy with how the design turned out. The wood stove is made by Cubic Mini, and is typically used in tiny houses, sailboats, and van conversions. Enjoy the video! Building A Custom Sliding Window: Timber Frame Plans Available Now!
Просмотров 16 тыс.2 года назад
Finally wrapping up the sliding window build. I first run a grove in each piece which will hold the window panes. The main frame of each window is joined with through-mortise and tenons each with offset shoulders to cover the gap from the grooves. The center muntin is attached with a lapped dovetail in the center of each frame. This project was a kind of comedy of errors, but I’m really pleased...
Building a Sliding Window Frame: Tiny Timber Frame Workshop Pt. 10
Просмотров 24 тыс.3 года назад
The window frame begins by plowing a rabbet on the inside of the frame to hold the windows. The top and bottom of the frame are then grooved, which holds the track and allows the windows to slide. The frame is held together with drawbored bridle joints at each corner. Finally, the bottom of the frame is angled so water will run off during rain. I was hoping to have the windows done in this vide...
Building a Huge Door for the Workshop: Tiny Timber Frame Pt 9
Просмотров 25 тыс.3 года назад
The door is on! In this video, I build a ledged and framed barn sized door with a smaller door housed inside. The frame is built with traditional mortise and tenon joinery which the shiplap boards are attached to. The door is held in place by huge 42” strap hinges. As usual, most of the work is done with hand tools. What’s in my Tool Chest: Barr 1.5” Framing Chisel: rb.gy/tas3jq (affiliate link...

Raising the Timber Frame with Ropes, Solo, with no Machines: Tiny Timber Frame Pt. 6 // Plans!
Просмотров 44 тыс.3 года назад
It’s finally raising day! I would have preferred to raise the frame with some friends, but Covid has made that difficult. I decided to use some old climbing gear instead. I anchor off to 2 large trees before building a pulley with some friction hitches and webbing. A lever pole is added to provide some upward lift. After a few hours of intense work, the first bent falls into place, followed by ...
Tiny Timber Frame Workshop Pt. 5: Oak Pegs from a log // Plans Available
Просмотров 34 тыс.3 года назад
In this video I finish the all important task of riving oak pegs for the timber frame. I start by using a froe to rive oak logs into workable portions. After cutting the log into 16 in wedges, I split the logs down further until the billets are just over 1” think. The process is finished up using the draw knife. I taper one end to ensure it fits easily into the draw bored holes in the frame. Th...
Tiny Timber Frame Pt. 4: Wedged Dovetail Through Tenon // Plans Available
Просмотров 27 тыс.3 года назад
Finally finishing the first bent! In this video, I cut the dovetail tenons in the tie beams before assembling and draw boring the bent. Also, sorry for the construction noise in this one. I try to film when things are quiet, but it’s not always possible. Hope you enjoy the video regardless! Tiny Timber Frame Workshop Pt.2: Sill Plate Tenons & Assembly // Plans Available
Просмотров 66 тыс.3 года назад
Finally getting the sills and floor joists assembled! In this video, I start by cutting the tenons in the short sills. These mate with the mortises cut in part 1 of the series. After the tenons are cut, the sills are installed. Each joint has an offset peg driven through to pull the frame together. Once the frame is square, I drop the floor joists into place. Making the ULTIMATE sawhorse with replaceable top // ASMR-ish Woodworking
Просмотров 67 тыс.3 года назад
Is the Krenov Style Sawhorse the perfect sawhorse? Finally got around to making a new sawhorse and I’m really in love with this design. Made with construction grade pine and walnut wedges. The feet are joined to the legs with draw bore mortises. The stretcher installed using wedged through tenons. Finally, the top is held in place with hardwood dowels to make for an easily replaceable top. What...

What size of ropes did you use? I already have pulleys, and anchor points, but I need to know the size of ropes as they look larger than 10mm

I love your kerfing plane. I am building one right now with a fixed cut thickness for cut for sheets to inlay. But the next thing I think I will build is one with a moveable fence much like yours. Nice design.

This lift was so planned-out. Great work man! I have some questions about knots that I need to learn - like when you first anchored to that tree for the bent. Can you tell me what kind of knot that is? And you re-positioned the load rope to crank it up. I have no idea what that was but that was sick. Great video and great build sir!

Is it wrong that I like this solution not only for the excellent craftsmanship on display, but also because its nice to see an alternative to the ugly white framed vinyl solutions so prevalent in many areas? Glad I found this channel - great work Nic.

At this minute ruclips.net/video/-EyvHx_vPW0/видео.html Did anyone understand how the frame was raised without falling towards the other side right where it was being pulled? Was it just luck or was there a plan? I noticed there was a tenon at the base. And there was a brace also at the base but it was very small... Did I lose something?
